I was a very proud dad when Christina came into our lives. I remember the fun we had in the pool when she was only 10 months old. We introduced her to skiing, soccer and other sports hoping she would find a liking to something that would later become a passion in life. We had many father / daughter outings but things changed when she entered high school. Her lust for life was lost, when her experimenting with drugs and alcohol became her passion and her family and friends only got in the way. Our meetings now involved only anger and rage. Christina had entered such a dark place. I couldn’t fix this problem and was lost and so afraid. I couldn’t cope at work and there were frequent quarrels with my wife on a solution. My wife did some research on AARC and I wasn’t sure I was ready for that kind of a commitment. A friend told me that AARC would change my life. When we entered AARC, I was surrounded by a group of men who welcomed me with open arms. We had similar stories to tell here and it soon became apparent that we were in the right place. It was painful watching Christina face the truth on what her life had become and I realized that I would have to change as well if Christina had any hope for success. We were in AARC for thirteen months. That’s how long it took for us to get better as a family. Christina lost a lot of her youth to drugs and alcohol, and is now learning her life skills. She is facing life’s problems and I am very proud of who she is today.
I am very grateful to AARC for what they have introduced me to and to the many friends that I have met there and have helped me along the way.
